Keeping FW Real Estate up to date ensures you have the latest fixes and improvements. Follow the steps below carefully — the order in which you update the main component and its add-ons is critical.
The recommended way to update FW Real Estate is directly from the component admin header. When a new version is available, the header displays your currently installed version number alongside a yellow Install v.X.X.X button. Click that button to open the pre-caution modal before any files are changed.
The modal shows:
Before the Start update button becomes active, you must tick all three checkboxes:
Once all three are checked, click Start update to proceed. Never skip this modal — it exists to protect your site from unrecoverable situations.
Always update the main component first, before updating any add-ons. If a plugin or module updates before the main component, it may call new component methods that do not yet exist, causing a 500 error on your site.
Add-on update checks run automatically every time you open the FW Real Estate admin — no manual check is needed. When updates are available, the Addons section in the sidebar displays an orange badge showing the number of pending updates.
Inside the Addons section, each add-on that has an update available shows:
To update all add-ons at once, click the yellow Update All button at the top right of the Addons section.
Always update the main component before updating add-ons. Updating an add-on while running an older version of the main component can break your site.
Updates can also be applied through System → Update → Extensions, but use this method with caution. Do not use Joomla's automatic update scheduler for FW Real Estate. If a plugin or module updates automatically before the main component, it may call methods that do not yet exist in the installed component version, resulting in a 500 error. If you use this route, always update the main component first, then update the add-ons.
FW Real Estate updates always appear in System → Update → Extensions regardless of your site's verification status — the update server returns the update XML to all sites. However, the actual file download will fail if your website is not verified, because the download endpoint requires a valid authorized website key.
If the installation fails, follow these steps:
