Common Issues
If something is not working as expected, the following checks resolve the most frequent problems reported by FW Gallery users.
Gallery Shortcode Shows Nothing
If you place a shortcode on a page and no gallery content appears, check the following:
- Category ID is correct: Open FW Gallery and confirm that the category referenced in your shortcode actually exists. If the category was deleted or never created, nothing will display.
- Category is published: A category that exists but is set to unpublished will not appear on the front end. Make sure the category status is set to published.
- Shortcode spelling is correct: A typo in the shortcode is one of the most common causes of a blank output. The correct shortcode is [fwmg_categories] — a common mistake is typing [fwmg_categroies] (note the transposed letters). Double-check your shortcode character by character.
Addons or Plugins Not Working
If a specific FW Gallery addon or plugin does not appear to have any effect on your site, it may simply be disabled.
- Go to FW Gallery → Addons in your dashboard.
- Locate the addon in question and confirm it is enabled.
- Save your settings if you make any changes, then test the front end again.
Addons that are installed but not enabled in the Addons section will not function, even if they are otherwise correctly configured.
Updates Not Appearing
If you are expecting an update to be available but nothing shows in your updates list, verify that your website is correctly registered in the FW Gallery dashboard. An unregistered or incorrectly registered site will not receive update notifications.
- Open the FW Gallery dashboard and locate the registration or licence section.
- Confirm your site URL is listed and matches your live site address exactly.
- Once the site is verified, check for updates again.
Quick Reference: Correct Shortcode
- Correct: [fwmg_categories]
- Incorrect (common typo): [fwmg_categroies]
