Common Issues

FW Gallery tutorial for Joomla!

Common Issues

If something is not working as expected, the following checks resolve the most frequent problems reported by site administrators.

Images Not Showing

  • Check published status: Open the image in FW Gallery and confirm it is set to Published. Unpublished images are hidden from the front end regardless of other settings.
  • Check access level: Review the Joomla access level assigned to the image. If the access level is set to Registered or a custom group, visitors who are not logged in will not see it. Set the access level to Public if the image should be visible to everyone.

Gallery Page Is Blank

  • Check the menu item: Go to Menus and confirm the menu item pointing to your gallery is set to Published.
  • Check the category assignment: Open the menu item and verify it is linked to the correct FW Gallery category. A menu item pointing to an empty or incorrect category will produce a blank page.
  • Check the category itself: Confirm the category is published and has at least one published image assigned to it.

Plugins Not Working

  • Go to Extensions → Plugins and search for the relevant plugin by name.
  • Confirm the plugin status is Enabled. A disabled plugin will not function even if it is installed correctly.
  • After enabling a plugin, clear the Joomla cache and reload the front end to confirm the change has taken effect.

Updates Not Appearing

  • Verify your website in the Dashboard: Log in to your account on fastw3b.com and confirm that your site's domain is registered in the Dashboard. Updates are only delivered to verified websites.
  • After verifying, go to Extensions → Update in Joomla and click Find Updates to refresh the update list.

General Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Clear the cache: Go to System → Clear Cache in Joomla. Cached output can cause old or missing content to persist on the front end.
  2. Check the Joomla error log: Go to System → System Information → PHP Error Log to look for any errors related to FW Gallery.
  3. Test with the default template: Switch temporarily to a standard Joomla template to rule out template conflicts if the gallery displays incorrectly.
  4. Disable other plugins one at a time: Third-party plugins can occasionally conflict with FW Gallery. Disabling them in sequence helps identify the source of unexpected behaviour.

If none of the above steps resolve your issue, visit the support forum at fastw3b.com and provide details of your Joomla version, the steps you have already taken, and any error messages you have encountered.
